Cabbage and meat stew. My mum’s recipe!!!
For a BIG pot!
- approximately 1kg of sour cabbage,shredded
- 1 large cabbage,shredded
- 2 large onions,chopped
- approximately 1kg f good meat (smoked ham, smoked bacon, sausage), cut into chunks
- 2-3 bay leaves
- 5 allspice berries
- handful of dry mushrooms
- handful of dried plums
Start with cooking sour cabbage (be careful – you have to stir it a lot and sometimes add some water to avoid burning it). In a separate pot cook cabbage and onions together until soft and add to sour cabbage. Add all other ingredients and cook for at least 30 minutes. It is good to prepare the dish few days before and warm it every day. It only gets better and better!!!!
